Fairies in Music?

Certainly! Music has often drawn inspiration from fairytales, creating enchanting and magical compositions.

A vast array of styles and compositions exist. The choice is limited only by your personal preference. You can find contemporary songs for all ages as well as classical songs from opera and theater.

To create an ethereal mood for your celebration, play some of these delightful pieces that reference or evoke the world of fairies.

“Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” from “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikowsky is an iconic ballet piece that captures the whimsical and ethereal essence of fairies.

The baroque opera “The Fairy Queen” by Henry Purcell is based on Shakespeare’s play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. It weaves together enchanting melodies and fantastical themes.

Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Op. 21/61) overture and incidental music, also for Shakespeare’s play, evoke the magical forest inhabited by fairies, including the mischievous Puck.

Another piece from ballet is “Cinderella” by Sergei Prokofiev (Op. 87). This score beautifully portrays the transformation of Cinderella, complete with magical moments and fairy godmother interventions.

Whether through classical compositions or modern interpretations, music continues to weave enchanting tales of fairies and magical realms and will bring them to life at your celebration.
