International Fairy Day is coming, June 24!
There are so many fun ways to prepare your home for the fun on Fairy Day. You can create a fairy setting for your family to celebrate.
Drape a length of sheer fabric (gauze, mosquito netting, organdy, tulle) over windows, tables, tree branches, patio umbrella – wherever there is something to drape it over! Add a set of twinkle lights underneath for more sparkle. You have the perfect setting for the rest of your display.
Capture a few fairies in a jar – cut pictures of small fairies from magazines or print some from the internet. Insert a string of battery-operated mini lights inside a jar and tuck the pictures between the lights. Make one large jar as a centerpiece, or an arrangement of small ones to set out.
Make fairy houses – get some small birdhouses, glue on some moss, stones and silk flowers and create a fairy village. Place them on a flowerpot or on a tray to use as a centerpiece on a table or in the garden. Add some pebbles, acorns, pieces of bark and pinecones to fill in between the houses and tuck in some small silk flowers.
Make clothespin fairies – paint regular clothespins assorted solid colors. Cut “butterfly” wings from construction or scrapbooking paper [or use images of butterflies] and glue on. “Paint” faces with fine tip markers and glue on some yarn for hair. Kids love making these!

Make fairy wands for everyone! Glue wood stars to the end of short dowels, add some glue and glitter, tie on a few pretty ribbons and you’re set!

Make simple fairy flower halos – twist two pipe cleaners together and form a circle. Cut the flowers from silk flower stems and wrap them with floral tape around the circle. Tie long colorful ribbons on the sides or back of the circle and let them flow in a breeze.
You can find lots of fairy themed party supplies, plates, cups, cupcake liners, favors, and more at department and dollar stores. Serve simple snacks (fairies love sweets). And don’t forget to add fairy lights to add sparkle and magic to the setting. Enjoy!
